Hangzhou Municipal government held a Meeting for Modern Service Industry Development on May 29, and decided to realize 15% growth of service sector added value in 2008 and accomplish the convert form "Made in Hangzhou" to "Served in Hangzhou" by 2010.
Mayor Cai Qi said that, Hangzhou should lay on both modern service industry and advanced manufacture industry, accelerate the development of the modern logistics and service outsourcing, encourage specialized scientific research and technology expansion, introduce research centers of big foreign companies and financial institutes home and abroad, and build Hangzhou into a Electronic Commerce City of China and national culture creation industry center.
Meanwhile, Hangzhou would boost the development of building (headquarter) economy, enhance the advantage of tourist industry, and encourage the 10 characteristic industries including cate, teahouse, performing art, recuperating, health care, makeup, women's clothing, sport recreation, infant and industrial art.
In 2007, Hangzhou achieved a total service sector added value-added of 187.7 billion Yuan, up by 16 year on year and 1.6% in GPD proportion.
